Augustine Eguavoen who is the interim handler of the Super Eagles has been backed by former Nigerian goalkeeper Peter Rufai to win the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
With days to the kickoff the competition, the Nigerian Football Federation announced the sacking of Gernot Rohr after five years without winning any title.
Nigerian Football Federation in their statement made it clear that Gernot Rohr lost control of the dressing room which was the reason he was fired.
And in their effort to make sure that Super Eagles do well at the coming competition in Cameroon, the NFF anointed Augustine Eguavoen as the man to take the team to Cameroon.

FootballAccording to the report on Complete Sports, Peter Rufai made it clear that Augustine Eguavoen can replicate late Stephen Keshi's achievement at the AFCON.
Against all odds in 2013, Stephen Keshi took the Super Eagles of Nigeria to the AFCON in South Africa and won the title with Sunday Mba netting the winner against Burkina Faso.
“I have no doubt that Austine Eguavoen can weather the storm and lead the Super Eagles to glory in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. I have this feelings that he can replicate late Stephen Keshi’s feat despite having a short time to prepare the team.''
Earlier, it was reported how the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will reportedly unveil Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro as the new Super Eagles coach anytime next week.
