Panic As PSG Formerly Open Talks With Lionel Messi Amid Contract Extension With Barcelona

Lionel Messi might reunite with former teammate Neymar at Paris Saint Germain as a free agent this summer.
The 33-year-old's current deal with Barcelona will expire at the end of this month and the future still looks bleak for him at Camp Nou.
Having already being linked with the Argentine superstar in time past, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has now confirmed that the French League giants have opened talks with the winger.

Although this is contrary to the reports filtering into the media space in Spain as the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is reportedly close to extending his stay at Barcelona.
And in spite of this huge development, the 47-year-old is not backing down according to SunSport quoting L'Equipe, saying:
"Messi is at the end of his contract and all clubs have the right to talk to him and recruit him for next season. What I can tell you, and you can believe me, is that all great players want to come to PSG.
"All – just to be clear, I’m not saying that to answer you on Messi. It’s not possible to sign them all since we have great players too. And Messi is Messi, a fantastic player."
However, if the four-time Champions League winner decides to remain at the Catalan club, he will have to take a sizeable pay cut as the outfit is currently swimming in a £1 billion debt at the moment.
Meanwhile, PSG will also not be able to pay his current salary at Barca due to a cut in revenue brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
