Gary Neville has singled out David de Gea for blame following Man United's disappointing 3-3 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.

United surrendered a 2-0 advantage during the Saturday night, February 6, clash to allow the visitors to restore parity.

The Red Devils took control of the tie into the break after goals from Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes only for Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez to draw Everton level shortly after the second half.

Scott McTominay appeared to have nicked it for the hosts with a powerful header in the 70th minute but Everton struck late via Dominic Calvert-Lewin to take a point from home.

The Englishman found the back of the net with almost the last kick of the match, with De Gea allowing him the chance to score after he opted to stay on his line.

But Neville believes the Spanish shot-stopper should have been more decisive to fend off the danger, adding the United defence also need to take some responsibility for the draw. Neville said as cited by Mirror UK.

"David de Gea, there, at the end. He doesn't even come in line with the ball.
"Goalkeepers are so quick off their line nowadays it wasn't a great night for the goalkeeper, it wasn't a great night for the centre-backs either and we've know from the start Manchester United needed a stronger centre-back pairing," he added.

The disappointing stalemate leaves the Old Trafford dwellers second with 45 points, two behind leaders Man City who have two matches in hand.

They will be keen to get their title charge back on track when they face relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, February 14.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blatantly stated his side are not in the title race after the Red Devils threw away two points in the 3-3 draw against Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbed the late goal as Everton fought from two goals down to claim an unlikely point at Old Trafford.

The draw leaves Manchester United two points adrift of rivals Manchester City, who have two games in hand. If City win those two games, including a clash against Liverpool on Sunday, February 7, then they will be eight points clear at the top.
