Asamoah Gyan: Ghana star pays for construction of major road in Accra

Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan is sponsoring the construction of a dusty road in an area in Ghana's capital Accra.

The name of the specific area is yet to be known, however, Gyan has revealed in an Instagram live video on Sunday, May 17, that he’s paying for the full cost of constructing the road.

According to Gyan, the raining season made the road inaccessible for motorists, hence his decision to oversee its renovation using his own funds.

“These are the petty ways we can also help,” he noted.

Asamoah Gyan was present at the site where the project is taking place.

The 34-year-old was there to inspect and make sure the work is going on smoothly.

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team with 51 goals.

Known for his famous dance and his no.3 jersey, Gyan is also the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup with six goals.

The former Sunderland striker followed the footsteps of players like Sadio Mane, who also uses his fortune from football to give back to society.

Mane, as TUKO.co.ke reported, established a hospital in his native town Bambali, as well as a school which will open in a couple of months’ time.
