France is ready to sacrifice one of their top stars to give the team a chance to stop Spain ahead of their crunch semi-final clash in the ongoing 2024 European Championship.

On Tuesday, July 9, Spain and France will go head-to-head in Munich for a ticket to the final of Euro 2024, but Didier Deschamps's men have been ranked as underdogs for the tie due to how poorly they have played in the competition.

According to Sport Bible, Deschamps is considering dropping Antoine Griezmann as part of a plan to make France more defensively solid in the face of Spain's attack.

The Atletico Madrid forward knows many of the Spanish players because he plays his club football in La Liga, but he may have to settle for watching at least the first half of the match from the sidelines.

Spain has been one of the best sides at Euro 2024 so far, and stopping La Roja is Deschamps’ main priority, even if it means sacrificing one of his best forwards to achieve that goal.

France concerned with Mbappe’s fitness

Meanwhile, France is concerned over the form and fitness of captain Kylian Mbappe after Real Madrid’s newest forward was forced off in their quarter-final victory against Portugal, Sports Mole reports.

The 25-year-old forward has struggled to replicate his club form for Les Blues so far at Euro 2024, with his only goal coming from the penalty spot in the group stage.

It remains unclear if Mbappe will lead France’s attack against Spain as he tries to recover in time for Tuesday’s semi-final clash.

Griezmann fires warning to Spain

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Griezmann is looking forward to the semi-final clash between France and Spain in the European Championship on Tuesday, July 9.

Spain has been one of the most impressive teams at Euro 2024, dispatching teams with ease, but had to dig deep to knock out hosts Germany 2-1 after extra time with a Mikel Merino goal sealing victory in the final minute.
