Each new day brings a fresh twist to the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) ongoing quest to find a coach for the Super Eagles.

Following the disappointing FIFA World Cup qualification results against South Africa and Benin Republic, the NFF has begun its search for a new manager after parting ways with Finidi George.

The NFF has expressed its intention to hire a foreign manager for the Super Eagles.

However, amidst this search, reports have emerged indicating that Salisu Yusuf is set to be appointed as a member of the coaching staff for the Nigerian team.

NFF to appoint Salisu Yusuf for Super Eagles?

According to a report from media outlet OwnGoalNigeria, the NFF is keen to include the 62-year-old in the coaching setup of the next Super Eagles coach.

The veteran manager previously worked with former Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr, during his five-year stint with the Super Eagles.

Coach Salisu, who has been largely part of the Nigerian footballing setup over the last decade, recently returned from a lengthy FIFA suspension after he was caught on camera receiving a bribe from an undercover football agent, per reports from Goal.

Coach Salisu was also in charge of the home-based Super Eagles team during the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

The controversial manager previously applied to coach the Super Eagles following the departure of Jose Peseiro and prior to Finidi's appointment.

Joaquin Caparros interested in Super Eagles job?

Sports Brief in another report stated that former Sevilla coach, Joaquin Caparros, has joined the race to be appointed Nigeria’s next coach.

The 68-year-old was previously in charge of the Armenian national team alongside different stints with Osasuna and Levante.

Caparros was reported to be among the managers previously included in the NFF’s shortlist to replace former manager Jose Peseiro prior to the federation appointing Finidi.
