The Soweto Giants are searching for a new left fullback after they released Sifiso Hlanti and four other experienced players.

The Glamour Boys are set to welcome Nasreddine Nabi to the club but must sign a new left-back before the Tunisian tactician is unveiled.

Kaizer Chiefs' approach for Basadien rejected

According to a report by iDiskiTimes, as per the South African, Kaizer Chiefs approached Stellenbosch FC for Fawaaz Basadien but the Stellies turned down their request.

Amakhosi have already signed Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates, who was reportedly part of the squad that travelled to Turkey for pre-season.

Basadien was one of the defenders identified by the Soweto-based club as a replacement for Hlanti, but the Maroons are not interested in parting ways with their player this summer, so they will have to settle for only Sam.

The Stellies told Chiefs Basadien is not for sale and is essential to their squad for the 2024-25 season.

If the Glamour Boys fail to sign another left-back this summer, Edmilson Dove can also be an option in the position and Happy Mashiane.

Grant Kekana linked with Kaizer Chiefs

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported that Kaizer Chiefs are on alert as Grant Kekana has yet to agree on a new deal with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The South African defender is said to be in discussions with the Brazilians about extending his current contract but talks have reportedly stalled.

Kekana's contract with the club expires in 2026, but he is said to be making efforts to attract an improved agreement with the champions.
