France manager, Didier Deschamps, maintains that Cristiano Ronaldo remains a significant threat, even at his advanced age.

Deschamps' Les Bleus will face Portugal on Friday, July 5, in Hamburg, with both teams vying for a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2024 European Championship in what promises to be an intense battle.

According to The Analyst, both France and Portugal, considered pre-tournament favourites, have struggled to meet expectations but have managed to reach the latter stages of the competition.

They are both eager to advance further, seeing this quarter-final clash as a crucial hurdle.

Despite boasting a formidable array of attacking talent, the two-time champions have only scored three goals so far, two of which are own goals and the third of which is a penalty.

Conversely, the Selecao has had a slightly better run, securing two wins in the group stage before narrowly overcoming Slovenia in a penalty shootout in the Round of 16.

Ronaldo labelled as 'dangerous'

Despite Ronaldo’s lack of goals in this tournament—having failed to score in four matches—Deschamps still considers him a formidable opponent.

“Cristiano [Ronaldo] is still dangerous despite his advanced age because he has a strong desire to win,” he said as quoted by The Nassr Zone.

Ronaldo issues stern warning to France

In the same vein, Sports Brief also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has bounced back from his emotional upheaval in the Round of 16, issuing a stern warning to France ahead of their quarter-final clash.

As the highest scorer in European Championship history with 14 goals across five editions, Ronaldo is determined to make a significant impact with a semi-final spot at stake.

With the highly-anticipated match approaching, Ronaldo is optimistic and has already shared a motivational message ahead of taking the field in Hamburg.
