Jude Bellingham has stolen the headlines for both good and bad reasons during the 2024 European Championships in Germany.

The England superstar has scored important goals, but his performances haven't been eye-catching in a Three Lions jersey.

Liverpool legend, Dietmar Hamann, recently slammed the Real Madrid star for his attitude, claiming he disrespects opponents.

The 20-year-old was coming off a historic first season at Real Madrid and was expected to be one of the contenders for the Player of the Tournament award but he hasn't impressed.

He helped Real Madrid win La Liga and their 15th UEFA Champions League title, grabbing 23 goals and 13 assists in 42 appearances.

At Euro 2024, by comparison, he scored in England's opener against Serbia but struggled in two other group matches against Slovenia and Denmark.

The youngster saved England from elimination in the Round of 16 against Slovakia by bagging a superb overhead kick in stoppage time before Harry Kane secured victory in extra time.

Bellingham criticised by Liverpool legend

Bellingham's behaviour on the pitch has irked many people. Hamann said the former Borussia Dortmund man is not performing at the tournament, per Football365.

"Maybe it shouldn’t come as such a surprise that Bellingham isn’t performing that well at this tournament... Sometimes the English tend to hype their players up, which is fair enough, but it doesn’t always match the reality."

The former German international said the midfielder has to watch his behaviour.

"Bellingham is starting to believe his own fairy tales, he needs to be careful: I think there is definitely a danger that Jude Bellingham is starting to believe his own fairy tales... I think he’s got to be very careful because the one thing you shouldn’t do is disrespect your opponents."

Bellingham will play a major role in England's quest to win their first European crown. They face Switzerland in the quarter-final on July 6.

Bellingham tipped to win Ballon d'Or

Sports Brief also previously reported on Kobbie Mainoo backing Bellingham for the Ballon d'Or award this year.

The young midfielder was superb in his first season at Real Madrid and a Euro 2024 title would cement his case.
