Head coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Randy Waldrum, has announced the 18-player squad that will represent the country at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The perennial African football powerhouse returns to the prestigious event after a 16-year hiatus.

Nigeria overcame Cameroon in the qualifiers and secured a hard-fought victory against African champions, South Africa, to earn their spot in the Olympics for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Games.

According to a press statement shared by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the squad includes several key players from the current team.

However, a few notable names have been omitted from the Super Falcons' roster for the Olympics, including Francisca Ordega and Onome Ebi.

Waldrum releases Super Falcons Olympics squad list

The team list released by 67-year-old features captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and 17 other players for Nigeria’s Super Falcons in this year’s Women’s Olympic football tournament in France.

The American coach has also included four alternate players who will be part of the squad to enhance training.

According to FotMob data, the Nigerian women’s team will play their first game against Brazil on July 25 at Stade Bordeaux, followed by matches against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.

The matches against Spain and Japan will take place at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, the venue where the Super Eagles famously defeated tournament favourites, Spain, 3-2 in a memorable game at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

Oshoala makes history with Bay FC

Sports Brief also reported on Super Falcons forward, Oshoala, making history with club side, Bay FC.

The 29-year-old converted a penalty as the NWSL side secured a crucial win against Racing Louisville.
