Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has made his Euro 2024 prediction as Europe's top guns eye glory in Germany.

The continental tournament is slowly taking shape, with hosts Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and England among the teams who have qualified for the quarter-finals.

Switzerland edged holders Italy 2-0 to advance on Saturday, June 29, while the Germans saw off Denmark with a similar scoreline to advance to the next stage.

On their part, England had to stage a late comeback to see off Slovakia in the last 16, with Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane stepping up to rescue the Three Lions.

Spain, meanwhile, hammered minnows Georgia 4-1 to book their spot in the quarters, with Rodri, Nico Williams, and Dani Olmo all on target.

According to Metro UK, Gareth Southgate's charges will play Switzerland in the next round, with Spain facing off against Germany in one of the most anticipated last-eight fixtures.

Rio makes Euro 2024 prediction

Rio has since shared his insights on how he thinks the tournament could pan out, with a couple of rounds yet to be played.

Reacting to England's last-16 victory over Slovakia, the former defender backed Southgate's charges to win the continental title.

"There comes a time in a tournament when you actually start believing you’re going to win it and I think this was the moment. I really do," Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

France, Portugal, and the Netherlands are the other top teams facing an anxious wait to discover their last-16 fate.

France will be in action on Tuesday, July 2, against Belgium, with Portugal set to play Slovenia on Monday night.

The Netherlands have been paired with Romania in the Round of 16 of the tournament.
