Euro 2024 is already three-quarters done, with eight teams confirming their places in the quarter-finals.

Spain survived an early scare to beat Georgia 4-1 on June 30, setting up a tantalising Last 8 showdown against the hosts, Germany.

The other confirmed match-up will see a shaky England face Switzerland for a place in the semi-finals, while France take on Portugal in a repeat of the 2016 final. The Netherlands will play Turkey.

Amid all the back and forth of the high-octane drama, beautiful goals and underdogs dreaming the impossible, a couple of goalkeepers have risen to the occasion with stupendous saves to keep their teams going.

Giorgi Mamardashvili shines bright for Georgia

Georgia might have been eliminated, but Giorgi Mamardashvili has surely forced some top clubs to take cognizance of his saves at Euro 2024. The 23-year-old almost singlehandedly dragged the debutants in their historic win against Portugal in the group stage.

The Valencia goalkeeper then followed it up with a series of fine stops in the Round of 16, but Spain eventually overwhelmed him. Of the 38 shots he faced, he saved 30 - the most by any goalkeeper in the tournament.

In fact, Mamardashvili faced almost twice the number of shots his next challenger, Florian Nita, faced. The Romanian shot-stopper came up against 21 shots, saving 15. Slovenia's Jan Oblak faced 17 shots, keeping out 14 of them.

However, when it comes to saving percentage, France's goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, is tops. He has saved every shot thrown his way so far and has only conceded a Robert Lewandowski penalty, which is not included in the saves statistics.

Jordan Pickford has an equally impressive save percentage of 83.3%, conceding only twice from 12 shots. The race for the Golden Glove is still in its infant stages, with Maignan leading a group of 7 goalkeepers who have two clean sheets each. The AC Milan goalkeeper hast hree.

England star to miss Switzerland clash

Sports Brief has also previously reported that Marc Guehi has been suspended for England's quarter-final clash at Euro 2024.

The Crystal Place defender picked up a second yellow card of the competition during a dramatic win over Slovakia in the last 16.

Therefore, manager, Gareth Southgate, will have to find another partner for John Stones when they play Switzerland on July 6.
