Siphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole was one of South Africa's best players at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The midfielder has been playing in Europe since 2017, but there were rumours he was about to return home to play for a PSL side.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder joined Portuguese side Tondela from B Sad in 2023 and featured 27 times in all competitions.

Sithole on Kaizer Chiefs talks

The Bafana Bafana star said he held talks with Kaizer Chiefs, but a deal never materialised, according to

“I’ve talked to Kaizer Chiefs, I think it was last season,” he said via iDiski Times. "And we didn’t continue with the negotiations until today. They didn’t submit an official offer, we were just talking and after that it stopped there."

Sithole added that he is not considering playing in South Africa now, but will always adore the Glamour Boys. he wants to continue in Europe.

“That’s my club, I love Kaizer Chiefs,” he continued. “I can’t close the door to Kaizer Chiefs but for my age, what I want right now I would love to continue in Europe.”

The midfielder played every match for South Africa at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast and has become a key player under Hugo Broos, per Transfermarkt.

When will Nasreddine Nabi join Chiefs?

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nasreddine Nabi will be appointed as Kaizer Chiefs coach in early July after his responsibilities with AS FAR Rabat are over.

The Tunisian has been heavily linked with the vacant role at Naturena for months, and he confirmed he will join the Soweto giants soon.

Chiefs are seeking to bounce back after a dreadful season where they finished 10th in the league and are without a trophy in nine years.
