But who is the man known as Gilberto? Sports Brief takes a look.

Who is Vieira?

Vieira is a 23-year-old winger who is popularly known as Gilberto.

Highly rated, he joins the Buccaneers on a three-year deal from Angola’s Petro de Luanda and will add attacking depth to the Soweto side’s options.

What does Gilberto bring to the side?

The Angolan international is a pacey winger who can play on either flank, Afrik Foot reported.

He can produce pinpoint crosses and is also known for his scoring prowess.

The 23-year-old is also a valued member of the Angolan national team, bringing a wealth of experience playing at the international level.

He has also won league and cup titles before, something the Pirates will be counting on as they look to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the DStv Premiership title.

Gilberto earns praise after AFCON performance

Many are excited to see Gilberto light up the DStv Premiership after his performances at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.

The winger helped his side reach the tournament's quarter-final and was named as one of the five players to watch in the future, thanks to his showing in the Ivory Coast.

CAF Online noted his ‘predatory instincts and offensive prowess,’ saying his potential was limitless.

Pirates urged to sign Stanley Nwabali

While Pirates have signed a new attacker, the club have also been advised to bring in a new goalkeeper.

Former player Thabang Stemmer has urged the club to bring in Stanley Nwabali, Sports Brief reported.

Nwabali has earned a lot of attention after his performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
