England's performances at Euro 2024 have not been good.

The Three Lions have arguably the best squad at the tournament, but Gareth Southgate has failed to construct a team that can dominate.

There have been calls for Arsenal star Bukayo Saka to play at left-back, but the Gunners man feels only Southgate picks the team.

Gary Neville and Ian Wright recently called on Southgate to deploy Saka as a left-back since he has played there before to give the team the balance it needs.

The Three Lions have won once at Euro 2024, in their opening match against Serbia. However, their performances in all the games have been below par.

Wright said the Arsenal superstar could play at left-back because he is a natural left-sided player.

"As great as Saka has done for England in terms of what he creates and his goals and assists, he is a natural left sided player," Wright said via 90min. "If that's going to give you the balance and gets you Cole Palmer in the team, it's something you have to at least look at."

Starting left-back, Luke Shaw has yet to recover from injury, and it is unclear if he will be ready for the knockout stages.

Should Saka play left-back for England?

Responding to Wright and Beville's suggestions, Saka said only Southgate can select who plays where.

“I think we should trust Gareth and leave the decision to him – yeah, believe in him and the team," he told Talksport.

Saka played a role in England's first goal at Euro 2024, but just like other English players, he hasn't performed against Denmark and Slovenia.

Ferdinand says Saka should play left-back

Sports Brief earlier reported that former England Rio Ferdinand urged Saka to play at left-back.

The former Manchester United defender said that if Shaw and Kieran Trippier are out, the Arsenal man should start at left-back.
