England have been one of the biggest disappointments at the 2024 European Championship.

Although they progressed past the group stage, their performances were unconvincing.

Jude Bellingham was expected to have a great tournament, but that hasn't happened yet, and he has explained why things haven't worked in Germany.

The Real Madrid superstar's Euro 2024 started impressively with the winning goal in England's clash against Serbia.

The 20-year-old was a shadow of himself and struggled to make an impact against Denmark and Slovenia; some called for him to be dropped.

However, the competition has reached a stage where players will be called upon to deliver. The Three Lions face Slovakia in the Round of 16. Can the Ballon d'Or contender rise to the occasion?

Bellingham opens up on Euro 2024 struggles

Bellingham was incredible in his first season at Real Madrid and was vital in their Champions League and La Liga triumphs. He said fatigue has been an issue in Germany.

"You definitely draw on them for energy towards the end of games," he said. "I felt like in the last game, I was absolutely dead" via 90min.

The youngster also urged England to ignore critics who aren't in the stadium.

"There's a lot of negativity outside the stadium and the camp and I think it's important that we remember fans in the stadium are the ones that are going to give us the energy. So don't worry about the ones who aren't there. We’ve got to keep using that energy and feeling we get from them."

Bellingham criticised after poor display

Sports Brief previously reported on fans criticising Bellingham for another poor display in England's draw against Slovenia at Euro 2024.

The Real Madrid star played every minute as the Three Lions produced another uninspiring display. He did not register a shot on target.
