Kaizer Chiefs have decided on South African coach, Cavin Johnson's future at the club ahead of Nasreddine Nabi's rumoured arrival this summer.

The Glamour Boys are close to appointing Nabi as their new coach for next season after Johnson failed to seal the vacant position during the 2023-24 campaign when he was the interim manager.

The former Al Ahly assistant coach joined the Soweto giants as Head of Academy in September last year but took over the club's first team job after Molefi Ntseki was sacked.

According to a report by iDiskiTimes, Kaizer Chiefs have decided to retain Johnson despite his poor performance with the club's first team in the DStv Premiership and cup competitions.

The former SuperSport United coach will return to his former post as head of the Glamour Boys academy, continuing to oversee the youth players and the club's scouting network.

Amakhosi are preparing for Nabi's arrival this summer and are making many changes to the team's technical crew.

The Tunisian gaffer will reportedly add Ilyes Mzoughi, Fernando Da Cruz, and Majdi Safi to his coaching staff at Kaizer Chiefs.

Johnson's performance as Kaizer Chiefs coach

Johnson started his interim job at Kaizer Chiefs on a good note, claiming four wins in his first seven matches.

The second half of the season proved difficult for the South African mentor, as Amakhosi could only add two more wins under his tutelage.

The Soweto-based went trophyless under him and finished outside the top eight on the DStv Premiership table, automatically knocking them out of the MTN8 for next season.

What will Kaizer Chiefs pay Nabi?

Sports Brief previously reported that Nabi could become the highest-paid manager in the PSL when he arrives at Kaizer Chiefs.

The Glamour Boys will reportedly pay the Tunisian coach more than what Rulani Mokwena is earning at Mamelodi Sundowns.
