Five best players in Euro 2024 group stage

1. N'Golo Kante - France

Kante is arguably the best player in the group phase of the competition, having produced stellar performances in all three games for France.

The former Chelsea star was not expected to make the French squad before the competition kicked off but has proved all doubters and those against his inclusion.

The Al-Ittihad midfielder won the Man of the Match award in France's games against Austria and the Netherlands but missed the prize in the last match against Poland.

Kante's stats: 13 balls recovered, completed 137 passes in three appearances.

2. Jamal Musiala - Germany

Musiala hit the ground running from Germany's first match in the competition, scoring against Scotland and being crowned the best player.

The Bayern Munich star followed the performance up with another goal against Hungary in the host nation's second group game.

The German international is in a strong position to win the Player of the Tournament if he continues with his top performances and Die Mannschaft makes it to the latter stages of the competition.

Musiala's stats: Two goals in three appearances.

3. Giorgi Mamardashvili - Georgia

Mamardashvili has been Georgia's best player in the competition thus far and has been one of the reasons they are through to the Round of 16.

The Valencia star was the best goalkeeper in the group stage, making 21 saves and keeping one clean sheet against Ronaldo's Portugal side.

Mamardashvili's stats: 21 saves and one clean sheet in three appearances.

4. Fabian Ruiz - Spain

Ruiz started the tournament brightly, being named the Man of the Match in Spain's 3-0 win over Croatia in the opening game.

The former Napoli star produced another top performance in La Roja's 1-0 win over defending champions Italy in the second group game.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was rested in Spain's last group game against Albania, which they eventually won 1-0 thanks to Ferran Torres' first-half goal.

Ruiz's stats: One goal, one assist in two appearances.

5. Georges Mikautadze - Georgia

Mikautadze has taken Euro 2024 by storm, as he was involved in all of Georgia's goals in the group phase.

The Metz striker scored in all group-stage games and assisted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's goal against Portugal.

Mikautadze's stats: Three goals, one assist in three appearances.

Kante wins second MOTM award

Sports Brief previously reported on Kante shining yet again as France played out a goalless draw against the Netherlands.

The former Leicester City midfielder impressed in the absence of Les Bleus captain Kylian Mbappe.
