According to the BBC, the former Chelsea star had not represented the 2018 World Cup champions since June 2022, with injuries taking a huge toll on him.

However, Deschamps overlooked all these and included Kante in his final 25-man squad for the continental showpiece, noting that his experience would be integral.

The midfielder has gone on to play a crucial part in France's Euro campaign, winning two man-of-the-match awards in their opening Group D games against the Netherlands and Austria.

Kante credits Chelsea for Euro form

The former Leicester City star has credited his current form to Chelsea, where he spent close to seven years before moving to Saudi Arabia.

"These are things that I learned to repeat at Chelsea. We will say that it is also the maturity and sensitivity to do it at the right time with the French team. For the moment it is working well," he said via Metro UK.
"As I said, the main thing is complementarity, sometimes it’s another environment that will have to be covered, sometimes it will be up to me to go there, but knowing how to do it well when you can," he continued.

Kante joined the Blues from Leicester in the summer of 2016 before he left for Saudi side, Al-Ittihad, in 2023.

Kante wins second MOTM award

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Kante shining yet again despite France and the Netherlands playing out a goalless draw in their second group game at the 2024 European Championship.

Les Bleus were without captain Kylian Mbappe, who suffered a broken nose during the first match against Austria. He was on the bench despite having a custom-made mask.
