The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are reportedly on high alert over the availability of renowned manager, Herve Renard, who is said to be a top target for the Super Eagles job.
The NFF is seeking a capable replacement for Finidi George, who tendered his resignation as Nigeria’s coach after two poor results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month.
According to Africa Soccer, Renard has announced his departure as head coach of the French women’s national team after the Paris Olympics 2024, making him available to take a new role.
Officials of NFF are reportedly actively pursuing a deal for the 55-year-old French technician, who is keen to return to Africa and could be tempted to become the Super Eagles' next coach.

Renard boasts an impressive track record in African football, having led Zambia to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012, and also achieved the same feat with Ivory Coast in 2015.
Renard set to leave France women
Meanwhile, Renard has confirmed he is set to leave his role as head coach of France's women's national team after the Olympic Games this summer, as GOAL reported.
The 55-year-old succeeded Corinne Diacre in March last year and led Les Bleues to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand only a few months later.

Sports Brief also reported that Renard was linked with the Super Eagles earlier this year after the departure of Jose Peseiro as Nigeria’s coach after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Finidi would later be appointed by the NFF for the post although his tenure lasted less than a month, with two poor results leading him to resign his position as the national coach.
