The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finalists found themselves without a manager following the departure of Finidi George.

The 53-year-old opted to quit after disappointing results recorded in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification fixtures against South Africa and the Benin Republic.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has since swung into action to ensure the national team has a fitting head coach ahead of the next round of fixtures.

Amid the hunt for a new Super Eagles coach, a new report has stated that as many as 15 foreign tacticians have declared their interest in replacing Finidi.

15 foreign coaches interested in Super Eagles role

According to a report by media outlet, OwnGoalNigeria, the federation has received interest from as many as 15 foreign tacticians for the Super Eagles head coaching vacancy.

The report states that the NFF hierarchy anticipated even more interest from coaches globally.

Among those who have already declared their interest is veteran Italian manager, Roberto Landi, who highlighted his credentials and reasons for consideration in a social media video.

Other managers, including Dario Bonetti and Giovanni De Biasi, have also expressed interest in coaching the West African powerhouse.

The last major success for the Super Eagles came under Portuguese tactician, Jose Peseiro, who led Nigeria to the final of the 2023 AFCON.

It remains to be seen which manager the NFF will ultimately appoint for the Super Eagles.

Roberto Landi declares interest in managing Nigeria

Sports Brief also previously reported on former Liberia manager, Landi, declaring his interest in coaching the Super Eagles in future.

The 68-year-old took to social media to highlight a series of reasons why he believes he is qualified to manage the Nigerian team.
