Newly appointed Napoli manager Antonio Conte has requested a meeting with Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

The striker has been the subject of transfer rumours and he has been tipped to leave the Italian club this summer.

Several clubs are interested in the services of the 25-year-old, who led the Partenopei to the Scudetto during the 2022/2023 Serie A season with 26 league goals.

English Premier League clubs Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly indicated interest in the striker this summer.

With pre-season activities just around the corner, Napoli's new manager, Conte, is keen to chat with the player.

According to Complete Sports, the former Chelsea boss hopes to convince the striker to remain in Naples in the coming season.

Napoli have placed a staggering €130m release clause on Osimhen, but no club is willing to cough up such an amount.

Chelsea and United have turned their searchlight on forwards like Samuel Omorodion and Joshua Zirkzee, while the Gunners are said to be in talks with Viktor Gyokeres.

There is no bid forthcoming from PSG at the moment, with Saudi clubs Al Ahli and Al Hilal looking like the only serious interested clubs. However, the 25-year-old is not interested in a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Osimhen returns to Olusosun

Sports Brief earlier reported that Osimhen returned home to Olusosun for the first time since winning the 2023 African Player of the Year award.

The in-demand forward scooped the award as the continent's best player at the glittering gala held in Morocco at the end of last year.

Osimhen spent a brief time in Nigeria before and after the Africa Cup of Nations as the Super Eagles finished the tournament in Ivory Coast as runners-up.
