Napoli star Victor Osimhen returned home to Olusosun this week for the first time since winning the 2023 African Player of the Year award.

The in-demand forward scooped the award as the continent's best player at the glittering gala held in Morocco at the end of last year.

Osimhen spent a brief time in Nigeria before and after the Africa Cup of Nations as the Super Eagles finished the tournament in Ivory Coast as runners-up.

He then returned to Italy to continue the rest of the campaign with the former champions.

However, following his return to Nigeria at the end of the season, the striker visited his alma mater, Olososun Primary School.

In a video shared on social media, Osimhen is spotted with his community as he celebrated his achievement with them while also inspiring the young ones to aspire for the best.

The striker failed to feature for the Super Eagles in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June after he was excluded from the squad for reportedly suffering an injury.

The former Lille star's campaign was affected by a series of injuries as the Naples-based outfit failed to defend their title following the absence of their star man for most of the season.

Osimhen netted 15 goals and delivered three assists in 25 matches in the just-ended campaign, per Transfermarkt.

Osimhen blasts Nigeria coach Finidi George

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Napoli striker, Osimhen slammed Nigeria coach, Finidi George, over his alleged comments after the Super Eagles' poor results in the World Cup qualifiers.

The former Lille striker missed Nigeria's clash with South Africa and the Benin Republic due to a muscle injury he suffered in Napoli's last game of the 2023-24 season in the Italian Serie A.

Osimhen was initially included in the squad list for both qualifiers but withdrew after the injury problem happened, with Finidi said to have questioned his commitment to the national squad.
