Mbappe set to undergo surgery

Meanwhile, Didier Deschamps has confirmed France's captain, Kylian Mbappe, will be forced to undergo surgery on the broken nose after he was rushed to hospital after the horrific injury, GOAL reports.

The new Real Madrid attacker collided with opposing defender Kevin Danso, which left the French skipper with a bloodied nose and a risk of missing the rest of the tournament.

Mbappe is expected to be sidelined for at least 15 days which means that he could be absent for France until the quarter-final stage.

Deschamps hails excellent Kante display

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Deschamps was full of praise for Kante after his Man of the Match performance in the victory over Austria.

The two-time world champions laboured to a 1-0 victory in Group D's opener to get off to a winning start at the European Championship in Germany.

Kante produced a critical interception five minutes from time to help France withstand a late onslaught by their opponents.
