The final spot in next season’s DStv Premiership is still up for grabs, and three teams are still in the running for it.

Richards Bay, Baroka FC, and the University of Pretoria are still in the running for that honour, with one game to go in the 2023/24 PSL promotion/relegation playoffs.

The Premier SOccer League playoffs will go down to the wire as all three sides are still in the running.

With Natal Rich Boys taking on Bakgaga in the final fixture, Sports Brief looks at each team's results to win the playoffs and compete in the big leagues next season.

DStv Premiership playoff: results each side needs

Richards Bay

The KwaZulu-Natal side are in pole position to earn the final place, as they sit atop the table.

The Natal Rich Boys have five points from their three games but are only ahead of AmaTuks, thanks to a superior goal difference.

They are also unbeaten in four games and are expected to get past Baroka in the season's final game.

Richards Bay need to win or draw to win back their spot in the DStv Premiership next season.

Baroka FC

Times LIVE. They reported that Bakgaga were relegated from the Premiership in the 2021/22 season

Form is not on their side. They have yet to win in the playoffs and are bottom of the table by two points.

However, they can still top the table, provided they beat the KZN side by a two-goal difference.

Anything less, and they will return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship for another season.

University of Pretoria

AmaTuks's final game of the season will be difficult. The Gauteng-based side is level on points with Richards Bay but behind on goal difference.

Their future is not in their own hands, as they would need Baroka to win that match to stand any chance of topping the table. If the University of Pretoria is to return to the top flight once more, they need Bakgaga to win by one goal.

News 24 reported that the team from Gauteng were last in the DStv Premiership in the 2015/16 season.

All eyes will now be on the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium to see which team earns the right to play in the top flight and which two teams will compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.

Jomo Cosmos relegated after 39 years

Every team wants to compete in South Africa's top flight, but some sadly drop out of the professional leagues.

Sports Brief also previously reported on how Jomo Cosmos dropped from professional ranks after 39 years.

The club was a staple of South African football, but have fallen down the ranks as the years have progressed.
