Lionel Messi has opened up on his true feelings about former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos during their time as opponents in the tense El Clasico era.

Messi spent the majority of his club career at Barcelona and enjoyed an intense rivalry against Real Madrid, culminating in some great El Clasico matches.

It also birthed his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo, both of whom have dominated football since 2008 and won a combined 13 Ballon d'Ors between them.

Messi shares true feelings about Sergio Ramos

Ramos joined Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 at the same time Messi was moving up to Barca’s first team, and both players left La Liga at the same time in 2021, meaning they shared the pitch as opponents at that time.

The Argentine, in a YouTube session as quoted by Diario AS, named the 38-year-old as the player that angered him the most as an opponent.

“We fought a lot with Sergio Ramos. He was the player I was most angry with. Afterwards, we were teammates, but in the Classics, we always held each other. The Classics were intense,” he said.

They spent two seasons as teammates at Paris Saint-Germain after joining as free agents, and seeing them together felt awkward. They both left at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Ramos, who joined Sevilla after leaving PSG is now a free agent and according to Goal, Messi's Inter Miami are interested in making the two teammates again.
