Inter Milan midfielder, David Frattesi, has explained how Italy can surprise Spain ahead of their Group B showdown at the Veltins Arena on Thursday, June 20.

Frattesi, who played a key role in Italy's 2-1 comeback victory over Albania, is determined to help the defending champions secure a spot in the knockout rounds by aiming for two wins from two games.

However, they face a formidable opponent in Spain, who decisively defeated Croatia in their opening match, per the BBC.

Even though Spain lost possession for the first time after 111 consecutive games of dominance in this area in the game against Croatia, Frattesi believes the three-time European champions still have the upper hand.

He also emphasised the strategies Gli Azzurri must employ to hand Luis de la Fuente's team their first defeat of Euro 2024, highlighting the importance of Italy remaining compact and disciplined throughout the match.

“Spain individually is better than us, and because of this, we need to bring the Italian spirit: suffering and fighting," the 24-year-old said, as quoted by Italian Football TV.

The former Sassuolo star emphasised the importance for Luciano Spalletti's men to capitalise on their opportunities, especially in a match where chances will be few and far between.

"We need to be more aware in the backline and take our chances when we get them."

The former Napoli coach clarified that he isn't against players enjoying themselves, but he stresses the importance of adequate rest and avoiding late nights.
