Former Real Madrid midfielder, Sami Khedira, has named Mesut Özil as the best player he has ever seen, despite having played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Khedira and Özil were teammates both at Real Madrid and on the German national team.
Özil left Real Madrid to join Arsenal after a three-year stint at the Bernabeu, completing a £42.5 million transfer from the Spanish giants.
During his time at Arsenal, the playmaker notched an impressive 19 assists in the 2015/16 season and was involved in 17 goals in the following Premier League campaign.

In an interview with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on his show, FIVE, Khedira praised Özil, a former Arsenal icon, for his technical prowess.
"For me, on a personal level, Özil was the best player I have ever seen," the former Juventus star said via Eurofoot.
"His technical skills, vision, first touch, movement between the lines, and understanding of the game, especially in setting up passes for strikers, were unparalleled."
Özil has since retired from professional football.

During his three years at Real Madrid, Özil struck 27 goals and assisted 81, many of which set up Cristiano Ronaldo, who famously expressed his "anger" when Özil left for Arsenal in 2013.
