Portugal will kick start their 2024 European Championship against the Czech Republic later tonight, and Cristiano Ronaldo has a message for his countrymen and fans.

They are coached by former Belgium national team boss Roberto Martinez, who took over following the dismissal of 2016-winning coach Fernando Santos after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo’s message to Portugal before Euro 2024

Ronaldo is entering his sixth Euro when he takes to the pitch tonight. According to UEFA.com, that's a record for most tournaments played by a male player.

The Al-Nassr forward and national team captain has taken to social media to send a message to his countrymen ahead of possibly his final Euro tournament for the country.

“Portuguese, today begins another chapter in our history. I fondly remember my first day with the national team, a journey full of challenges and victories,” he wrote as translated in English.
“Now, I have the honour of being alongside a team of champions, full of talent and determination. With everyone’s strength and support, we turn dreams into reality.
“Let's, together, fight for another triumph. United, we are unstoppable. Go Portugal!”

The 39-year-old will reportedly not stop representing the national team after the tournament in Germany, as he aims to feature at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Records Ronaldo could break at Euro 2024

Sports Brief analysed six records Ronaldo could break at Euro 2024 as he is set for possibly his last tournament on the continental stage with Portugal in Germany.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who famously claimed the records follow him, will have some milestones chasing after him, including two that he could set if he reaches the final.
