Victor Osimhen could be staring at a lengthy absence from the Super Eagles of Nigeria following his social media outburst concerning Finidi George.

The Napoli forward took to social media to express his frustration over reports circulating within the Nigerian football community about the disappointing results in the FIFA World Cup qualification series against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Media outlet, Score Nigeria, initially reported that coach Finidi, defending his team's poor performance, emphasised the negative impact of players like Osimhen, who allegedly feigned injuries, as a major setback in both matches.

In response to this report, the 25-year-old striker posted on social media, stating that he had personally informed the coach of his injury and still wanted to be part of the team, but Finidi chose to exclude him.

Following this viral rant, reports have emerged that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is considering disciplinary action against Osimhen.

NFF to open disciplinary action on Osimhen

According to a report from OwnGoalNigeria, the NFF is considering extending a ban to the talismanic forward.

The report emphasises that despite attempts by members of the NFF hierarchy and Finidi to reach out to the forward to clarify what has been termed a misleading statement, the Napoli star has refused to retract his rants about the former Nigeria coach.

The report concludes by suggesting that the highly sought-after forward might be excluded from the Super Eagles setup until a public apology is issued to coach Finidi.

In another report, Sports Brief stated that the NFF is currently seeking a coach for the Super Eagles.

This development follows the resignation of Finidi from his role as manager of the Nigerian team.

Reports indicate that a former Saudi Pro League coach is at the top of the football federation's list of potential candidates.
