Manchester United could have potentially signed their fastest player in the squad in the form of 14-year-old wonder kid Silva Mexes.
Mexes will continue developing at Manchester United’s youth ranks with the likes of Kai Rooney after the club announced his signing on May 30, 2024.
Despite being only 14, Mexes has shown immense promise in the Ipswich ranks, and this sparked interest from the Red Devils.
One of the youngster’s most distinct attributes is his athleticism which was on full display in a recent clip which went viral on social media.

A 100m sprint champion at Under-13 level in Essex, Mexes recently recorded a personal best record in the 100 metres dash, running the distance in just 11.1 seconds.
To put this time into context, the world’s fastest human - Usain Bolt - ran his best time in 9.58 seconds, according to World Athletics.
The fact that Silva is only 1.52 seconds slower than Bolt’s best time at 14 is a prelude to what the teenager can offer in future.
Clips of the youngster against his counterparts showed a clear gulf in class, as he established a fair distance between himself and the second-placed runner.
Silva is the son of former Premier League striker Robert Earnshaw, who played for teams including West Brom.
One notable career moment for Earnshaw was when he netted against the Red Devils from the penalty spot at Old Trafford in 2005.

FootballManchester United investing in young talent
Despite his impeccable speed, Mexes will need more than that to be considered someone worth wearing the Manchester United badge at senior level.
However, he is showing promise in other departments and is an incredible dribbler who, at times, resembles a young Neymar.
One factor that could help him thrive at United is the club’s new owners INEOS’ willingness to give the young players a chance, as seen with Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
Why Mason Greenwood remains a Manchester United player
Sports Brief also reported on why Mason Greenwood remains a Manchester United player despite the club having no plans of playing him again.
The forward has not played for the Red Devils since his infamous arrest in January 2022 over alleged battery.
He denied the accusations, and all charges against him were dropped after an intense investigation.
