Sylvinho's charges inked their name in history books during their opening game against Italy at Signal Iduna Park.

According to the BBC, Albania needed just 23 seconds to open the scoring in the Group B clash.

Nedim Bajrami was responsible for what is now the fastest goal in the history of the European tournament, with the Albanian ace thrashing a strike into the top right corner to break the deadlock after Federico Dimarco miscalculated a throw-in.

However, that was ultimately the only positive for Albania as Italy staged a remarkable comeback to secure the three points.

Alessandro Bastoni drew his side level in the 11th minute before Nicolo Barella scored the second five minutes later to help the Euro holders recover.

Be that as it may, Albania will take pride in the landmark goal in the history of the continental showpiece.

However, with the 2024 edition of the tournament still fresh, Albania's new record could still be shattered.

Sports Brief now takes a look at the top 10 fastest goals in the history of the Euros.

10. Michael Owen vs Portugal (2 minutes, 25 seconds)

Legendary Manchester United and Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, is responsible for one of the fastest goals in the Euros.

The Englishman needed just two minutes and 25 seconds to score for the Three Lions during Euro 2004 against Portugal. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.

9. Alan Shearer vs Germany (2 minutes, 14 seconds)

The Newcastle United icon found the back of the net in two minutes and 14 seconds during Euro 1996 against Germany.

The semi-final clash finished in a 1-1 draw.

8. Petr Jiracek vs Greece (2 minutes, 14 seconds)

Jiracek's goal was the fastest during the 2012 edition of the Euros.

The ex-Czech Republic ace netted his against Greece during a group-stage fixture.

7. Robbie Brady vs France (2 minutes, 0 seconds)

Brady was among the goalscorers during the Republic of Ireland's quarter-final meeting with France in 2016.

However, his landmark goal was not enough to save his country from elimination.

6. Luke Shaw vs Italy (1 minute, 56 seconds)

The Manchester United left-back needed just under two minutes to open the scoring during the final of the Euro 2020.

However, his goal did not stop Italy from winning the tournament, with Gil Azzuri securing the trophy via a penalty shootout.

5. Robert Lewandowski vs Portugal (1 minute, 40 seconds)

The Barcelona star is one of the most lethal strikers in the world.

The Polish forward once again proved his goalscoring prowess by scoring the fastest goal in the Euro 2016 against Portugal.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo's side managed to recover from the disappointment and went on to win the crown.

4. Yussuf Poulsen vs Belgium (1 minute, 39 seconds)

Poulsen's goal against Belgium was one of the fastest goals scored during the Euro 2020.

The group-stage match ended 2-1 in favour of the Red Devils.

3. Emil Forsberg vs Poland (1 minute, 22 seconds)

The Swedish ace was on target as his side edged Poland 3-2 in the group stages of Euro 2020, a tournament in which some of the fastest goals were scored.

2. Dmitri Kirichenko vs Greece (1 minute, 7 seconds)

The former Russian footballer was responsible for the fastest goal scored during the Euro 2004.

His strike was enough to help Russia sink Greece 2-1.

1. Nedim Bajrami vs Italy (23 seconds)

Bajrami is officially the only player to take under a minute into the kick-off of a Euro match.

Per GiveMeSport, the midfielder beat Alessandro Bastoni before firing past Gianluigi Donnaruma to give the underdogs the lead.

To five goalscorers at the Euros

Earlier, Sports Brief analysed the top five leading goal scorers in the history of the Euros after Alvaro Morata scored against Croatia.

The Spaniard scored the opening goal of the group-stage clash to take his tally to seven goals.
