Former Orlando Pirates striker, Kermit Erasmus, who's likened to Cristiano Ronaldo, has been told to join Kaizer Chiefs on a free transfer this summer ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The former South African international was among the six players the Soweto giants released this summer after his contract expired.

The 33-year-old striker had two different spells with the Buccaneers but had a better scoring feat in the first stint. The second spell was much more successful regarding trophies, as he won four titles with the Bucs.

According to a report by the South African, former Kaizer Chiefs star, Junior Khanye, wants Erasmus at Naturena this summer ahead of the new season in the Premier Soccer League.

"I would love to see him signing for Kaizer Chiefs," he said.
"I do believe the Soweto Giants can offer something. But Kaizer Chiefs might not want to because they might look at his age. In South Africa, once you are 34 or 35, they label you as someone unable to play at the highest level anymore.
"I do not understand where this comes from because top players still play for their countries at 36, 37 and still score."

Khanye went further to compare Erasmus to Ronaldo, who is 39 years old and still playing at the highest level for both Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team.

The former Chiefs winger believes the South African striker is a good fit for the Glamour Boys.

"Ronaldo scored two goals now for Portugal. He is 38 turning 39, the same age as me, but he is still wearing the armband for Portugal and scoring," he added.
"So why not Kermit at the age of 34 [33]? For me, he is still good enough to play for Kaizer Chiefs,"

Chiefs to offload nine players this summer

Sports Brief earlier reported on Kaizer Chiefs' plan to offload nine players from their squad this transfer window.

Amakhosi are preparing for a squad overhaul after having a disastrous campaign in the PSL.
