Thiago Messi, the son of legendary footballer Lionel Messi, has opened up about his father's illustrious career and his own dreams.

Born in November 2012, Thiago has witnessed his father achieve remarkable milestones, including five of his ten La Liga titles with Barcelona, five of his eight Ballon d’Or awards, and the 2022 Qatar World Cup victory.

The 12-year-old aspires to follow in his father's footsteps. Recently, the youngster participated in the LaLiga FC Futures tournament, which features 20 U12 teams from around the globe.

Representing Inter Miami alongside Benjamin Suarez, son of Luis Suarez, Thiago's team was eventually eliminated by Barcelona.

Despite the tournament loss, Thiago expressed a desire to return to the Catalan giants, where his father spent 14 years.

He dreams of playing alongside current Barcelona player Lamine Yamal, who had an impressive 2023/24 season with seven goals and ten assists in 50 appearances.

"One day I would like to play with Lamine Yamal," Thiago said via Marca.

Thiago also discussed his international ambitions. Eligible to represent both Argentina and Spain, he firmly stated his preference for Argentina.

"I want to play with the Argentine team, and I don’t think there is any way the Spanish team can convince me," he declared.
Lionel Messi was present to support his son during Inter Miami U12's 5-0 loss to Barcelona.

Reflecting on his father's career, Thiago shared that his favourite of Messi’s 837 goals is the header against Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final, a goal Messi himself has described as his favourite.
