How much money do you get for winning the Euros? This article reveals the UEFA Euro prize money and its distribution based on the official UEFA website. We also break down compensation packages for teams playing in Euro 2024.

How much is the European Championship prize money?

According to a 2023 media release from UEFA, the men's Euro prize money amounts to €331 million ($355 million). Its distribution includes participating teams, qualification to successive stages, match winnings and draw bonuses.

In 2020, UEFA distributed a similar prize money pool, with the winning team, Italy, receiving up to €28.25 million ($30.26 million).

1. Participation fee

24 association football teams have qualified to compete in the 2024 European Championship. Each participating team will receive $9,937,228.

2. Group stage bonus

In the group stages, twenty-four teams in six groups (A - F) will play thirty-six matches. Each side will play three games in the group stages. Winners of each match will receive a match bonus of $1,072,855. Draws well also attracts a $536,427 bonus for each.

3. Round of 16 qualification

Between June 29 and July 2, the top two sides in each group and the best third will progress from the group stages to the Round of 16. These qualifying teams that make it to Round 16 will receive $1,611,285 each. At this stage, teams that have won the group stages and Round of 16 will have received €13.75 million ($14.7 million).

4. Quarterfinals qualification

From Round 16, eight winners will proceed to the Quarterfinals and compete for two days between July 5 and 6. By qualifying to compete in this stage, each team receives $2,686,250. The qualified teams compete in two brackets of four sides at this stage. Progression to the quarterfinals attracts a €16.25 million ($17.4 million) payout.

6. Semifinals qualification

Four teams will successfully progress from the quarterfinals to the second third stage of the competition. Each squad receives $4,294,724 for advancing to this stage. The four will have received €18.25 million ($19.5 million).

7. Finals runners-up

The pressure to win the 2024 European Champions is mounting as teams battle for glory. With only one spot available for the winners, the agency pays $5,367,750 for the second-place winners at the finals.

Despite missing out on the Henri Delaunay trophy, the 2024 Euro prize money for the second-place honour will be €20.25 million ($21.68 million).

8. Finals Champions

The culmination of the UEFA Euros on July 14, 2024, will pit two teams against each other. The winners will receive over $8.5 million windfall for winning the final match. Having won every game at the group stage, Round 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals, the Euro winner's prize money‌ will be €28.25 million ($30.26 million).
