Pitso Mosimane has been linked with the Kaizer Chiefs coaching role for the last few months, but the rumours have died down.

AS FAR Rabat coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly the front-runner for the role, and according to multiple reports, it is only a matter of time before he is announced as coach.

Mosimane, who dominated the PSL with Mamelodi Sundowns, said the Amakhosi job is difficult, and things need to be right for the project to be successful.

Chiefs are coming off an awful season. They finished 10th in the DStv Premiership, their worst in the PSL era. Molefi Ntseki was appointed before the start of the season and lasted only 114 days.

He was replaced with Cavin Johnson, who coached the team in an interim capacity but didn't fare any better. Moreover, they ended their ninth straight season without silverware.

The Glamour Boys finished 37 points behind PSL champions Sundowns and 14 points behind bitter rivals Orlando Pirates.

Mosimane on Kaizer Chiefs' role

The former Al Ahly coach admitted that the Chiefs role is exciting but does present a few problems.

"It's a difficult project in terms of understanding turnaround times. It's not about qualifying for the top eight and you win the top eight and then you say you've turned the corner. No, it must be a good project. I mean, teams are going to the club World Cup receiving a billion rand there. Football in Africa has changed," he said via KickOff.

The veteran coach added that the team needed good players to be a better team.

"We are talking Kaizer Chiefs; do you know the history of Kaizer Chiefs? They've always had the best players ever. We are not talking about Maritzburg United to turn around things, we're talking about Chiefs. The best players played for Chiefs. You can't win games if you don't have good players."

Chiefs have a long way to go before they close the gap between them and Sundowns. Will Nabi help rejuvenate the sleeping giants?

Nabi gives Kaizer Chiefs two demands

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nabi reportedly gave two demands to Kaizer Chiefs before he could agree to a deal with the club.

His first demand was reportedly having a clear picture of the project being built and his second was to select his own backroom.
