The Dutchman led United to one of their worst finishes in the Premier League, with the Manchester club managing an eighth-place finish with 60 points.

United went on to crown their otherwise disappointing campaign with the FA Cup, beating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley to lift the domestic trophy.

Thomas Tuchel turns down Man United move

Tuchel is believed to have been among several candidates touted as favourites to replace the former Ajax boss at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims that the German turned down that opportunity because he wants to take a break from coaching.

In a tweet shared by Romano, the football transfer guru added that the former Chelsea boss decided not to continue in talks with United after meeting in recent weeks.

Tuchel is currently without a job after he parted ways with Bayern Munich after just a season in charge.

The German tactician has since been replaced by Vincent Kompany, who dumped Burnley.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Tuchel reportedly speaking to Chelsea to discuss a possible return to Stamford Bridge.

At the time, the Blues were looking for a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who was recently dismissed after just one season in charge of the 2021 Champions League winners.
