Jack Wilshere showed he still has it by pulling off a sublime piece of skill to set up Ellen White with an equally sublime assist during the 2024 Soccer Aid match on June 9.

Wilshere was part of the tier-1 celebrities and former stars who participated in the annual charity match organised by UNICEF. This year's edition was played at Chelsea's home ground, Stamford Bridge.

The former Arsenal midfielder lined up for England's XI. England, managed by Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard, beat the World XI for the first time in six years.

Soccer Aid 2024 match report

The game was an absolute thriller, with Joe Cole firing England ahead. Eden Hazard, however, scored on his return to the Bridge via a free kick before Alessandro Del Piero put the World XI ahead after a beautiful assist from Usain Bolt.

White drew England back level before the break. After half-time, Lampard's side ran away with the game courtesy of goals from Steven Bartlett and Jermain Defoe.

Billy Wingrove pulled one back for World XI, but Theo Walcott scored a late lob to round off the 6-3 result after Bartlett had gotten his second of the game.

Wilshere sits Petr Cech down

Wilshere was not on target in the goal-fest but perhaps produced the best moment of the game when he sat down Petr Cech to set up England's second goal.

The retired midfielder, who struggled with injuries, shimmied his way past Cech, leaving the legendary Chelsea goalkeeper in his wake.

The 32-year-old then squared off a pass across the goal to set up White with an easy tap-in. The Lionesses legend became the first woman to score at a Soccer Aid match.

Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised £106 million. Of this, £15mil was raised in the 2024 event.

Usain Bolt's exquisite assist to Del Piero

Sports Brief has also recently reported about Usain Bolt's assist at Soccer Aid 2024, with the retired Jamaican sprint king captaining World XI at Stamford Bridge.

He set up Alessandro Del Piero for their second goal of the game but the multiple Olympic gold medalist had a bitter end to the night after damaging his Achilles.
