Ahead of their Match Day 4 cracker in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, coach Finidi George has fired a strong warning to Gernot Rohr.

Former Super Eagles coach, Rohr, will lead the Cheetahs of Benin against Nigeria in a clash billed for the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Benin Republic play their qualifiers away from home after failing to provide a CAF/FIFA standard stadium in the country.

The Super Eagles have started the campaign on a poor note, as their first three matches of the qualifying series ended in 1-1 draws.

Nigeria are fifth on the standings with three points, but Lesotho blew the group wide open with a 2-0 away win over Zimbabwe.

The Crocodiles top the group with five points, while Rwanda, Benin and South Africa all have four points each.

The Super Eagles take on Benin in their next game where Finidi George will face off with Rohr. As Nigeria depart for Abidjan for the game. Finidi told reporters, via Daily Post:

“He should be the one to be fearful (of the Super Eagles). We want to win the game, we will take risks to win.
“We should repeat the second half performance against South Africa in Abidjan. That will give us a positive result that will change the narrative and that’s what we want to do on Monday.”

Finidi opens up on Victor Boniface

Sports Brief earlier reported that Finidi explained why Victor Boniface did not feature in Nigeria's 1-1 draw against South Africa in the World Cup qualifying game on Friday.

Bafana Bafana took the lead in the first half through Themba Zwane, but an early goal in the second half from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru earned Nigeria a deserved draw at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

With Victor Osimhen ruled out of the tie due to injury, Boniface was one of the players Nigerians hoped to lead the attack for the Super Eagles, but the Bayer Leverkusen striker was on the bench throughout the game.
