Mourinho's verdict on Ronaldo at Euro 2024

There have been calls for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to step aside and give the upcoming players a chance, but Mourinho believes that the forward is still important to the team.

"Cristiano is the one who knows how he feels, what his goals are, how the coach wants to use him. He has a lot of influence, and he will score his goals. I don’t believe he will leave the European Championship without goals," he said, as quoted by the Mirror.

Roberto Martinez's side were drawn into Group F where they will play Turkey, Georgia and the Czech Republic.

Jose Mourinho names his Euro 2024 favourites

The newly-appointed Fenerbahçe manager has downplayed Italy's chances of retaining the title, tearing into their lack of quality players.

"It’s not a very talented generation. I can’t see enough talent to win. They won the last one, but I don’t believe in a second time."

The former AS Roma boss believes that Portugal, England, France, the hosts Germany, and Spain are the favourites to win the competition, which starts on June 14.
