Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric shared a memorable moment following the Portugal vs. Croatia friendly on Saturday, June 8.

Luka Modric scored the opening goal in the eighth minute at Portugal's National Stadium near Lisbon, converting a penalty after Vitinha fouled Mateo Kovacic in the box.

The 38-year-old Real Madrid midfielder expertly beat goalkeeper Diogo Costa from the spot, per Reuters.

Portugal equalised in the 48th minute through Diogo Jota, who tapped in a cross from Nelson Semedo, both of whom had been introduced as half-time substitutes.

Croatia regained the lead in the 56th minute when Ante Budimir headed in a rebound after Mario Pašalić's shot was pushed onto the crossbar by Costa, securing the victory for the visitors.

After the final whistle, Ronaldo, who didn't feature in the game, reunited with his former Real Madrid teammate Modric, and the two exchanged a heartwarming hug.

In a video shared on social media, the two icons had a lovely hug before talking to each other for some time.

Ronaldo and Modric became teammates when the Croatia legend joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

Together, they played 222 matches, combining for 16 goals, per Sportskeeda.

Modric assisted Ronaldo's second goal in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League final against Juventus, a match they won 4-1 in Cardiff.

Their partnership was instrumental in Real Madrid securing four Champions League titles.

Meanwhile, beyond their club collaboration, Ronaldo and Modric have faced off nine times on the international stage and once during Modric's tenure at Tottenham.

Ronaldo has emerged victorious in eight of these encounters, with one match ending in a draw.
