Chelsea forward, Nicolas Jackson has been ruled out of Senegal's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mauritania on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
The 22-year-old picked up a knock during the game against the Democratic Republic of Congo and will not be available for the trip to Nouakchott.
His absence will be a huge blow for the injury-ravaged Senegal side, who are also missing talismanic forward Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese Football Federation confirmed Jackson's injury following a scan on his right ankle after complaining of pain at the end of the DR Congo game.

"Nicolas Jackson injured his right ankle during the Senegal-DRC match on June 6, 2024. Radiology examinations (MRI) carried out on June 7 revealed a serious sprain of the ankle. He will therefore be unavailable for the Mauritania – Senegal match on June 9, 2024," FSF wrote on social media.
Senegal were held at home by DR Congo and now desperately need a win to keep their World Cup hopes alive, as reported by ESPN.
Meanwhile, Mauritania sits bottom of Group B without a win in three World Cup qualifying matches.
