These two will play their last tournament this year, but some others may also not feature at the next event in four years.

Sports Brief looks at top stars who could play their last Euro this year.

Players who could play their last Euro in 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo

At 39, Ronaldo is one of the oldest players at this year's tournament. He captained Portugal to glory in 2016 and will hope to repeat the same feat. He will be 43 at the 2028 edition and may not feature. According to Marca, the 2026 FIFA World Cup could be his last major tournament.

Luka Modric

Modric made his major tournament debut for Croatia at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and in the same country, he could feature at his last event. At 38, it is unlikely he will play another major competition as he will be 40 at the 2026 World Cup.

Kevin De Bruyne

KDB will turn 33 in the middle of Euro 2024, which could be his last major tournament. According to Evening Standard, he hit out at the fixture congestion in 2020 and watered down Belgium's chances at the 2026 World Cup, claiming they were old.

Manuel Neuer

You can never tell it with Manuel Neuer. According to multiple reports in Germany, at 38, he is likely entering his final European Championship, though he retains a possibility of playing at the 2026 World Cup when he will be 40.

Thomas Muller

The veteran German attacker stepped aside from the national team after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, even though he never officially retired. He made a U-turn months later and has played under former Bayern Munich coaches Hansi Flick and Julian Nagelsmann. At 34, it could be his last outing.
