The European Championship 2024, to be held in Germany, will be Toni Kroos’ last dance in football after announcing his retirement from professional football last month.
French striker Olivier Giroud has also confirmed he will be stepping aside from international duty at the end of the tournament as he aims to focus on his new adventure at Los Angeles FC in the MLS.
These two will play their last tournament this year, but some others may also not feature at the next event in four years.

Players who could play their last Euro in 2024
Cristiano Ronaldo
At 39, Ronaldo is one of the oldest players at this year's tournament. He captained Portugal to glory in 2016 and will hope to repeat the same feat. He will be 43 at the 2028 edition and may not feature. According to Marca, the 2026 FIFA World Cup could be his last major tournament.
Luka Modric
Modric made his major tournament debut for Croatia at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and in the same country, he could feature at his last event. At 38, it is unlikely he will play another major competition as he will be 40 at the 2026 World Cup.
Kevin De Bruyne
KDB will turn 33 in the middle of Euro 2024, which could be his last major tournament. According to Evening Standard, he hit out at the fixture congestion in 2020 and watered down Belgium's chances at the 2026 World Cup, claiming they were old.
