Finidi George faces his first task since being named permanent manager of the Super Eagles with a crunch clash against South Africa.

The 53-year-old, who was appointed coach by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) barely 39 days ago, is faced with a make-or-break situation to ensure the Super Eagles defeat Hugo Broos' side and keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on track.

However, not deterred by the minimal time frame, the Super Eagles gaffer has been upbeat and talking tough in the lead-up to his side's clash against South Africa.

The former Enyimba gaffer, speaking confidently in his pre-match press conference, took time to disclose his plans for the South African team.

Finidi speaks on South Africa clash

Speaking to the media, as reported by Brila.net, the 53-year-old outlined his plans to secure victory.

"We have trained well, and the players understand the task. I trust my players and their quality. It's a must-win game," Finidi stated during the pre-match interview.
"The AFCON win against South Africa is behind us; this is a new game. We have our plans," he emphasized.

The Super Eagles are without a win in 90 minutes against South Africa since their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final clash. Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will be seeking only their second competitive victory against the Nigerian team when they face off in Uyo.

Hugo Broos names Nigeria’s most dangerous player

Sports Brief in another report stated coach of the South African team, Broos, has identified Nigeria's most dangerous player ahead of the crucial match.

The septuagenarian coach opted not to select Victor Boniface, among other forwards that the Super Eagles boast of.

Broos is aiming to secure his first-ever win against the Nigerian team when they meet in Uyo.
