Finidi George is gearing up for his debut as the coach of the Nigerian team, as the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification clash against South Africa draws near.

The 53-year-old tactician faces the daunting task of securing a crucial victory against Hugo Broos’ side.

Seemingly undeterred by the challenge, the Super Eagles coach has shared a bullish message ahead of the fixture.

The former Real Betis forward took to social media to comment on a post on the Nigerian team's official page, highlighting the team's rigorous training sessions in preparation for the clash.

Quoting the post, the Super Eagles coach wrote '100% to the [cause] 💪🏿', accompanied by the hashtag #SoarSuperEagles and the Nigerian flag emoji.

This upbeat comment by the gaffer is well-founded, particularly in light of reports from the Super Eagles' official social media page, which highlighted the arrival of a few players who had experienced varying delays to the team's training camp.

More Super Eagles players arrive at camp

According to the report, five additional players have arrived in the Nigerian camp, leaving only the trio of goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi, and UEFA Europa League final hero, Ademola Lookman, yet to arrive.

The Super Eagles will lock horns with Bafana Bafana at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on June 7, before travelling to Ivory Coast to face the Cheetahs of the Benin Republic in their round four fixture on June 11.

Broos speaks on the difference between Finidi and Peseiro

Sports Brief also reported that the coach of the South African team, Broos, has identified the difference between Finidi and Jose Peseiro's tactical approaches.

The septuagenarian tactician touched on the attacking approaches that the new coach has adopted since taking over as coach of the Super Eagles earlier this year.
