Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly closing in on securing Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach ahead of other targets, Pitso Mosimane and Alexandre Santos, ahead of next season.

The Glamour Boys have been seeking a new permanent manager since they parted ways with Molefi Ntseki last year and ended the 2023-24 season with Cavin Johnson as the caretaker coach.

Several coaches have been linked to the club's vacant coaching role, but the Amakhosi board has reportedly narrowed the search down to Nabi, Mosimane, and Santos.

With reports claiming that the Soweto giants are going for Nabi, Sports Brief outlines why the Tunisian tactician is the perfect coach for the club ahead of Pitso and Santos.

Why Nabi is the perfect manager for Chiefs

1. Style of play

The former Yanga SC coach is known for his attacking style of play, and this is what Chiefs need as they try to end their nine-year trophyless streak next season.

The Glamour Boys struggled to score goals this season, scoring just 25 in 30 games in the DStv Premiership.

Nabi is leading AS FAR Rabat to one of its best seasons in the Moroccan league. They are second on the log, scoring the most goals (63) and conceding the fewest (22) after 29 games.

With his track records at his former clubs, Nabi shows signs of leading Amakhosi back to their glory days.

2. A serial winner

The Tunisian tactician is a winner, as evidenced by his records with former club sides. During his two-year spell with Yanga SC, he won six trophies, including a league title won without a single loss on his debut.

He is also successful on the continent, winning the CAF Confederation Cup in 2012 while managing AC Leopards in the Congolese League.

Nabi's records show winning trophies is not his problem, and Chiefs need titles to regain their former status.

3. Financial aspect

Compared to Mosimane, Nabi would be the advisable choice for the Soweto giants financially, as the Tunisian coach's salary demand would be much lower than that of the South African gaffer.

Pitso is one of the highest-paid coaches in Africa, and it could be the stumbling block in his talks with Amakhosi.

Mass exodus looms at Chiefs

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chiefs are likely to offload nine players from their team this summer after a disastrous campaign in the 2023-24 DStv Premiership.

The Soweto-based club finished outside the top eight, extending their trophyless season to nine. As such, they will not participate in next season's MTN8 competition either.
