Victor Osimhen is widely expected to end his four-year stay at Napoli this summer.

The Nigerian has multiple suitors, including Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and also French champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Osimhen's possible move to the Premier League could reportedly not materialise for one major reason.

The Napoli superstar enjoyed a phenomenal 2022/23 season, during which he led the Italian club to their first Serie A title in three decades. Those performances catapulted him to superstardom.

This season, however, his performances were below par and his numbers dipped significantly. Nevertheless, at 25, he is one of the top strikers in world football, and several teams are willing to pay a premium price for his services.

Osimhen to the Premier League?

A Premier League move might not happen because his salary is said to be scaring away clubs. According to Punch, his €12 million per year salary at Napoli will be a major hindrance for clubs in the English top flight.

Arsenal is looking for a striker to help them win that elusive league title, while Chelsea is looking for an established striker. Furthermore, Osimhen has said many times that Blues legend, Didier Drogba, is his idol, so that might tempt him to head to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United and Liverpool are outside favourites for the Super Eagles star. He told CBS Sports in January that he had decided on his future.

PSG are reportedly looking to sign Osimhen to replace their golden child, Kylian Mbappe, who officially joined Real Madrid this week.

Osimhen ruled out of Bafana clash

Sports Brief also previously reported on Osimhen being ruled out of Nigeria's team for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against South Africa.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, the Napoli striker is expected to be out for four weeks and will also miss the clash against the Republic of Benin.
