Belgian coach, Hugo Broos, has decided to replace Grant Kekana with Kaizer Chiefs star, Given Msimango, in the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
The South African national team mentor released his final 23-man squad list a few days ago, with Msimanga being one of the players who had dropped from the preliminary list.
Kekana's injury is bad news for Broos because the Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back has been an important member of the Bafana Bafana squad since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to a report by iDiskiTimes, the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) released an official statement on Monday to confirm Msimango as Kekana's replacement in the Bafana Bafana squad.

"Bafana Bafana camp in full swing on day 1, with all players present," SAFA confirmed.
"There is one change to the initial squad announced by Coach Hugo Broos. Due to injury, Grant Kekana has been released and Given Msimango has reported for duty."
The South African squad will travel to Nigeria on Friday, June 7, to take on the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Bafana will host Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein, on Tuesday, June 11.

FootballBroos fires warning to Super Eagles
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Broos claims South Africa’s performance at the 2023 AFCON and their recent friendly games against Andorra and Algeria show they are not afraid of any team.
The Belgian coach sent this note of warning to the Super Eagles ahead of their game in Uyo.
South Africa have failed to qualify for football’s biggest international competition since hosting the tournament in 2010, and the Belgian coach is hoping to end that barren spell.
