Borussia Dortmund's defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final has a silver lining, as the German club is reportedly set to earn more money as a result of the loss.

Despite having a decent game at Wembley, Dortmund were left ruing their missed chances as Real Madrid took control of the game with two second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior.

Los Blancos won the game 2-0 to lift their 15th Champions League title, in a victory that had a positive financial impact on the runners-up Dortmund.

How much Champions League finalists get

In this year's edition of Europe's elite club competition, UEFA set aside £17.2 million (€20m) for the winners of the Champions League, while runners-up will get £12.9 million (€14.7 million)

However, Sky Sports reports that a total of £19.3 million will go to Dortmund, and this all has to do with the Jude Bellingham transfer.

The England superstar arrived at Real Madrid for £88 million last summer, but the fee could rise to £114 million if certain criteria are met.

German outlet Rhur Nachrichten outlined some intricate details of Bellingham's transfer to Real Madrid, with one clause related to the 20-year-old winning the Champions League.

Real Madrid will reportedly be forced to pay an extra €5million (£4.3 million) after Bellingham won his first ever Champions League title.

Dortmund's situation gets better, as the German giants reportedly stand to gain an additional €2 million (£1.7 million) if Bellingham is named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season.

With all the extra funds Edin Terzic’s side is now set to pocket €22.5million instead of the €20million that is paid for winning the most prestigious club trophy in Europe.

Jose Mourinho takes photo with Bellingham's mother

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Jose Mourinho's heartwarming moment with Jude Bellingham after the Champions League final.

Bellingham cheekily revealed his mother was a huge Mourinho fan, and proceeded to ak the former Chelsea boss for a photo.

Mourinho gladly accepted the request, sharing a heartwarming moment with the Bellingham family.
