Jose Mourinho has suggested that Vinicius Jr should have been sent off in the first half of Real Madrid's Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

Real and Dortmund faced off in the final of the European elite competition on Saturday, June 1, at Wembley Stadium.

According to SPORTbible, Dortmund were the dominant side in the early exchanges of the match, with Niklas Fullkrug rattling the crossbar and Karim Adeyemi also coming close.

Incredibly, Real did not have a shot on target in the first 45 minutes but came out stronger after the interval.

However, Carlo Ancelotti's side were lucky to end the half with 11 men, and Vinicius Jr. was lucky to escape a red card.

Vini Jr escapes red card

The Brazilian ace had earlier on been booked after he collided with Dortmund shot-stopper Gregor Kobel.

The forward appeared to dive in the closing stages of the first half, only for the referee to overlook the incident.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Mourinho suggested that Vini should have actually been sent off.

"That's a dive. No doubt, that's a dive," Mourinho said when asked if Vini should have been red-carded.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos went on to win the final, with Carvajal heading home the opener in the 74th minute off Toni Kroos' free kick.

Vini doubled the advantage nearly 10 minutes later as Real stormed to a 2-0 victory.

Vini matches Lionel Messi record

Earlier, Sports Brief also reported that Vini Jr. had matched Lionel Messi's incredible record in the Champions League.

The Brazilian ace joined the elite club after his goal against Edin Terzic's charges in the 83rd minute of their meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
